#63- Flowers on Vellum

Hello...

I have been seeing so many cards using vellum especially heat embossing on vellum. I wanted try that and so I did. Here is a card where I heat embossed the flowers and fussy cut and colored lightly before using them on my card.
The stamped flowers are from Penny Black's Blooming Garden stamp set. Used pattern paper and some sequins. Finished off with the sentiment from MFT sentiment stamps.

#61 - Christmas with peel-offs

Hellooo....

I am really enjoying blogging back to back... Feels so good.. Well, I created this card for the 'Less is More' Recipe challenge. Peel-off's have been lying in my stash for too long and I absolutely love making cards using them.

Here is my chance, I created a simple card with a plain background from the Cracked Pistachio Distress Spray and the peel-off elements are the silver snowflakes.

I first cut a watercolor paper into three panels. Stuck a silver washi tape on the cardstock at places in between the panels after which I glued the snowflake peel-off's onto the three panels and sprayed the Cracked Pistachio distress spray. Once the panel were dried I glued the peel-off sentiment and finally put it all togather with foam tape.

#60 - Happy Holidays

Hey there,

When I first heard of distress inks I didnt know anything about them. How to use, what are the techniques but the most impressive and effective that I absolutely loved was the Distress ink blending. I am no pro in this, but try my best to get some cool effects with this technique.

In this card, I have done some distress ink blending. Well, I tried my best to get good effects here but lets see what everyone feels.

Here is the card,

Used Dusty Concord, Pickled Raspberry and Salty Ocean distress inks for the background. The stamp and dies are from the Lawn Fawn 'Trim the Tree' .The christmas tree is watercolored and the little chrismas goodies on the tree are colored using glitter pens and sharpies. Few snowflakes are het embossed on the background. Used white glitter cardstock on the side panels and the central panel is stuck using foam tape.

#59 - Fun with Balloons

Hello friends,

Back with a cute and simple little fun card.  CASology cue word this week in FUN and when I saw this cue word all I could think of was balloons. Nobody could be uncheered with a balloon. And for me, seeing colorful balloons float in sky is a great pleasure. As a child, I enjoyed releasing balloons in the air but I never let the last one go ;-)

Here comes my card,

Stamped and die-cut the balloons and the little birdie from the Lawn Fawn Year 4 stamp set. I have also stamped a few balloons on the cardstock. For this card, I have used only the primary colors - Red, Yellow and Blue. Used Salty Ocean distress ink on the background to represent the sky. Stamped the 'yippee' sentiment as I believe anyone releasing the balloons would feel this.

#58 - Madhubani

Hello,

A new card, a new idea. The current 'Exotic' theme at the 'Less is More' challenge got me thinking. No stamps that would fit the theme were in my stash. An idea crossed my mind, think 'home'. Although I am settled in Perth, Australia I actually come from India. So, just thought what is exotic about India - its diverse culture, food, variety of art forms. I could do something with that. Thats when I thought of Madhubani art.

Madhubani art is practised in Nepal and Bihar(state in India).Painting is done with fingers, twigs, brushes using natural dyes and pigments and is characterized by eye-catching geometrical patterns. I tried a showcase it a little in my card here

Everything on this card is hand drawn and colored. I used the stamp only for the sentiment.

I hope my card is exotic enough to qualify.

#57 - Rainbow

Hello,

Back with a new card to share. This time thought of trying my hand at mixed media and art journaling. Everytime I watch a mixed media video I get so excited and just want to go ahead and create something. But it's always the first time nerves getting to me.That feeling of 'Will it look good' sometimes gets to me.
Well, this time I just went ahead and made my hands dirty in the watercolors, the gesso, soft gel mediums and the perfect pearls. And, I don't mind saying its a job well done :-)
Here's the card

Started off with some watercolors on a watercolor paper. I used all the 7 colors of the rainbow. Once the colors dried up, I used the MFT fishnet stencil and applied some texture paste and soft gel medium and let it dry. Once the pastes were dry, I did some watercoloring again till I was happy . I then stamped the house image and the sentiment on a sheet of paper from a old book. The stam and sentiment is from the Stampendous Family Time stamp set. My latest buy and I love it. Fussy cut the image and sentiment and outlined it with a black Sharpie. I felt something was missing, just thought if a little shine would do and so mixed some perfect pearls in water and flicked it on the card before gluing the image and sentiment. Punched little hearts and colored them and stuck here and there on the card. Also, outlined the image and sentiment with a little gesso and the stenciled fistnets with some black and glitter markers.

I hope its a good attempt and all you crafty people out there like it.

#54 - Galaxy

Hello....

I had always wanted to try my hand at making galaxies using watercolors. I adore such backgrounds. They are so dreamy and magical. Not just on papers or canvas, I  totally get lost when looking at the stars on beautiful night. Its like losing yourself to to the amazing power of universe.

And so, finally tried my hand at something that I was longing to do since a long long time. Here it is...

I did some watercoloring to get the background, kept on doing it until I was happy. I then stuck some silver snowflake peel-off's and flicked some white color for the stars. Finished off with the sentiment peel-off.

#51 - 3D Christmas

Hello...

I had gone  little craft crazy this weekend and got some nice little things. Yes, just little things with big impact. And one of them is used here in this card - 3d sheets. It really takes ages to cut those tiny pieces. But the final effect is worth all the work :-) . Here it is

I used the pattern papers from the Kaisercraft Twig and Berry paper pads. All the matting is done using paper from this kit. The focal image is from 3d sheet.

Incredible India

The Indian National Pledge talks about unity in diversity and its rich and varied heritage which has been possible, only due to the struggle of many a freedom fighters. Nothing inspires patriotism more than the tricolor flag. The sacrifice and the bloodshed, in varying proportions, spanned the length and breadth of the country.

I have tried to depict this through a collage of the greatest leader this wonderful nation has had. A collage in warm tones finished off with quilled curls. An homage to the patriotism of an era gone by.

This is my DT inspiration for this month's IQCG #29 - Incredible India.
